The Pakistan Canada Association hosts the Jamia Masjid located at 655 W. 8th Avenue, the first Mosque in British Columbia founded in 1963 by the pioneering community leader and activist, the late Riasat Ali Khan and is a time honoured base to Vancouver’s diverse Muslim Community.

During the course of the Month of Ramadan, the organization and individual volunteers have quietly provided hundreds of free meals to the homeless after daily Iftar held at the Jamia Masjid.  There will be an Iftari meal marking what could be the last fast of the month at the Mosque at Sunset that evening hosted by the organization and the Khan Family in memory of Riasat Ali Khan.

A spokesman from the organization states: “By helping our most vulnerable citizens by sharing a meal we hope to demonstrate the spirit of Ramadan and show the care and compassion that the Muslim community has for all peoples”.
